HUGE thanks for your input Karonaway, you articulated and asked everything I wanted to but couldn't put across right.

You're 100% right that it could still be a hardware issue, I had in mind one-off defective unit sorta hardware problems but yeah it could absolutely be a manufacturing defect, which is frustrating since as much as I bought this laptop for its specs-vs-price, I also bought it based on positive reviews of the OMEN line overall from family who've owned 3 older units.

Can confirm it's not a Windows 11 issue as I'm running 10 on mine.

Can also confirm it's not an issue with at least the two other OMEN models I've used, which are two separate 15-ax's and one 15-dc.

It's also persisted since the day I got my model, so that very likely rules out a clean install fix, and likewise my drivers and BIOS are all fully updated.

Is that the issue is resolved can you give me the brief explanation how you resolved and what bios you updated

You mention other models?  Are the other models older generation OMEN Laptops or this current generation?   And you are still having a problem, correct?  Another post indicated the problem was solved but it's not based on what i am reading.

It's not a Heat issue, that much i am sure of (i have seen that being bandied about on other posts)

It seems to be random so far but I trying to identify a common characteristic when it begins to flake out.  It starts and builds up slowly until it's almost unusable then i hit the FN+F11 and it goes back to working.  The cursor won't follow the movements of your finger and neither the left or right "button" work aka pressing the touchpad where it clicks vs soft taps but it will respond to taps in the center of the touchpad to select an object with one finger or two fingers to right click.

i am wondering if there is a connection to the Elan Service and ETD Control Center that you will see running in Task Manager or at least i see it running on mine.  I am trying to figure out what the purpose of either is because you can stop the service and end task on the Control Center and the Touchpad works just the same.

I don't whether it is a software or hardware issue. the first engineers from the hp side has updated the bios but it doesn't fix the issue.the 2nd guy who came adviced to recover the os by hp cloud recovery but it also not fix the issue.

The 3rd guy who came has replaced the touchpad but it too not fix the issue.till now I don't know what is the reason for these touchpad issue hence I have done all the possible ways.

Yeah the other models I mentioned are older gen OMENs, I believe the 15-ax is a 2016 model and the 15-dc 2018; neither of them have this bug at all. Yep the problem persists for me, definitely not solved as far as I've found.

I agree, absolutely doesn't seem like a heat issue on my end either, though I also haven't verified that it has no influence at all, but heat is 100% not prerequisite for the bug to occur. My experience of the issue is exactly as you've described too, from the failing hard clicks, to the gradual progression of the bug over time from minor effects right up to rendering the touchpad almost unusable until it's reset (which is why I felt it seems in my layman opinion more like a software issue than a hardware one). Also get some intense jitteriness as described in my initial post, where a finger rested on the pad stationary or just slightly moving causes the cursor to jump about extremely erratically, which again gets worse as the responsiveness degrades. Regarding the unresponsiveness, I need to investigate further as I haven't confirmed this at all, but I do feel like I've maybe noticed the bottom half of the trackpad being more affected by it than the top.

Ah yeah I also see the Elan Service and ETD Control Center tasks. From what I could find the ETD Control Center is to do with the multi-touch functioning of the touchpad, but upon terminating the task my multi-touch gestures all seemed to work exactly the same as usual, so I'm not sure quite what it's doing. No idea about Elan Service though, the most detailed info I managed to find with a cursory search is just about general Elan touchpad driver stuff.

2 MONTHS since I posted this issue and still absolutely nothing even remotely useful from HP's pathetic support team. Ridiculous.

I strongly recommend completely avoiding this model along with the rest of its line, and more broadly HP products overall since their tech support is some of the worst in the industry.

I hate to say it but i am leaning in towards regret myself.  The touchpad is bad.  I can't say it anymore clearly.   i am constantly struggling to highlight areas on my screen because it won't respond to my motions or pressing down on it until i disable the touchpad then re-enable it or restart the computer.  Very frustrating.  Overall i like all the other aspects to it but none of it matters if i can't interact with the laptop.  Using an external mouse for me isn't an option, i am using this like in the bed or on the couch, i don't use it on a desk or smooth type surface.  I have a Desktop for that.

Let me lay out a typical scenario.  Initially i can left click on the bottom left of the touchpad.  Then gradually the computer stops responding to clicking on the bottom left i have to move up on the touchpad for a left click to be recorded.  Then it will start acting erratically where sliding across the touchpad no longer works, the cursor doesn't move and i can try over and over again and maybe it will finally move.  Then i hit the F11 to turn off the touchpad, hit F11 to turn on the touchpad and it goes back to normal.  I can left click again normally on the bottom left of touchpad, the cursor will move if i slide from left to right, etc... Rinse, Repeat
