Hi there, I am trying to get my docking station to work through my thunderbolt USB-C port. However, my laptop is not recognizing the dock being plugged. The bios in this laptop is extremely stripped so that many options are missing and most notably the option to disable security through thunderbolt 3 connections. Is there any way to change this outside the bios or add the option to the bios so that it can be changed. This seems like the issue that is holding me back from using my dock entirely and is extremely fustrating. Help would be appreciated.

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

HP Consumer Pc’s uses a customized BIOS setting (Tattooed BIOS) of which some features including overclocking, increasing the VRAM  and other features are locked.

This is done in the best interest of safeguarding the PC for the optimal performance and not to cause any extensive component failure.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers, BIOS and Firmware for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Hi there, all my drivers are already up to date! I need to manually approve my thunderbolt connection but it doesn't approve in the basic intel thunderbolt software. Because there is no way to access thunderbolt security in the BIOS, I need to download the thunderbolt control centre system to manual approve a thunderbolt connection so that I can use my docking system. The thunderbolt control centre app on the microsoft store is the best solution because HP doesn't offer a way to do this as far as I am aware. Unless you can offer a suggestion there?

However, I am unable to download the thunderbolt control centre app from microsoft and just get an error.  As far as I am aware  the issue has something to do with being DCH compliant and I cannot see an obvious way to resolve this issue with the drivers offered by HP. Please can you help so that I can approve my docking station connection manually?

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

Have a nice day!!
