OMEN by HP Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My problem started around the 1st of October. My Omen 15t (I think) laptop randomly shuts down after 5-20 minutes after getting on. Sometimes even sooner. When it shuts down, the only way I can get it to start is by plugging it in, then It starts after pressing the power button. It doesn't display any error message. Even after disabling automatic restart, it still shuts down without warning. I have tried nearly everything, I may reinstall windows 10 after this if I can't get a solution from here. Please help me with this serious issue.

Hi @Willful

Thank you for posting and for the details provided.

** If the PC shuts down without any warning, it could be hardware issue.

1. Please, check this article for the majority of the reasons for a PC to turn off unexpectedly - could be motherboard, battery, overheating, etc....

2. Perform some basic hardware checks to rule out hardware problem

If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD (hard disk drive) and RAM check (memory check).

Let me know the test results

3. What you experience is very common/known issues and is related to Intel MEI driver - common for Windows 10

Here is more info, please take time, read them and follow the steps:

3.1 >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Shutdown-issue-on-Windows-10/td...

3.2 >> https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/the-answer-to-windows-10-shut-do...

Common solution (if you use W10) is to downgrade Intel MEI to version 9.5 (not use newer versions) and stick the version to 9.5

Hope this works for you.
