Hi,
I have the HP Omen Max 16 2025 (ah0790ng) and wanted to undervolt. I've looked everywhere in the BIOS and haven't found an undervolt protection setting anywhere. I've also tried several programs like ThrottleStop, Intel XTU, and HP Omen Gaming Hub. Nothing helped.
I have BIOS F12 Rev. A.
Please change this in the next BIOS. With such a premium product, this should be possible.

@Dr_Anubis, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

You're right that undervolting is a valuable feature for enthusiasts looking to optimize thermals and performance, especially on premium gaming laptops.

Current Status of Undervolting on Omen Max 16 2025

Unfortunately, as of BIOS F.12 Rev. A, undervolting is not supported via BIOS, Intel XTU, ThrottleStop, or OMEN Gaming Hub on this model. This is due to Intel’s Undervolt Protection (Plundervolt mitigation) being enforced at the firmware level starting with newer CPUs.

What You Can Try

While full undervolting may not be possible, here are a few steps you can take to optimize thermals:

1. Use OMEN Gaming Hub Performance Modes

  • Switch to Balanced Mode or ECO Mode to reduce CPU boost behavior.
  • You can also limit CPU max usage to 90% via Windows Power Options to reduce peak temperatures.

2. Disable Turbo Boost (Optional)

  • In OMEN Gaming Hub, some users have reported success in reducing temps by disabling Intel Turbo Boost and Dynamic Boost.

3. Cooling Optimization

  • Ensure proper airflow by using a cooling pad and keeping vents unobstructed.
  • Repasting with high-quality thermal compound or phase-change pads (if you're comfortable opening the chassis) can help significantly.

We appreciate this valuable feedback and will share it directly with the relevant internal team. We hope they will be able to unlock undervolt options in a future BIOS update, or potentially provide more granular control through OMEN Gaming Hub.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
