Pavilion G6 stolen

HP Pavilion g6, s\n 5CD1431V6X

Good day. My Pavilion G6 laptop was stolen from me in October and today I received a message about recovering a password from an HP account. I changed the password, can I somehow find my laptop or what do I need to do to do this? I wrote a statement to the police.

@kiwiwi

Sorry, but this is only a community forum staffed mostly by volunteers and we can do nothing to track or recover missing property. In addition, there is no way to track a lost PC unless you had installed special tracking software.

What I recommend is the following:

1) Contact HP Customer Support, tell them about the lost PC and get a case number

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

2) When the lost PC is returned, contact Absolute Software to see about getting Lojack for it. That enables you to report a lost PC and then locate it, once it is then connected to the Internet.

I think THIS article honestly portrays the situation: https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-track-stolen-laptops-with-a-mac-or-ip-address

Read the information in Step 2.

Sorry, but the only REAL way to locate a laptop is if you have something embedded in it that allows you to find it -- and products like Lojack for Laptops provide that feature.
