Hi @CHAZZ57,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP DeskJet Plus 4100 printer, like many other inkjet printers, typically includes an automated cleaning cycle to help maintain print quality. The cleaning cycle is usually initiated automatically by the printer itself when it detects issues such as print head clogs or poor print quality.

To manually access or initiate a cleaning cycle on the HP DeskJet Plus 4100, you can usually follow these steps.

  • Open the HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart App installed on your computer or mobile device, open it. The app often provides tools and options for managing your printer.
  • Printer Control Panel: Alternatively, you can use the printer's control panel. On the printer, navigate to the settings or tools menu. Look for an option related to maintenance, tools, or cleaning.
  • Software on Your Computer: Depending on your operating system, there may be printer management software installed on your computer. For Windows, check the "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" section in the Control Panel. For Mac, check the "Print & Scan" or "Printers & Scanners" section in System Preferences.
  • Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS): Some printers allow you to access a web-based interface called the Embedded Web Server (EWS). To do this, enter the printer's IP address in a web browser. Look for maintenance or cleaning options within the EWS.
  • Physical Buttons on the Printer: Check the printer's physical control panel for any buttons related to maintenance or cleaning. The printer's user manual should provide guidance on navigating the menu and finding these options.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
