Scanning issues

When I try to scan a document to the computer I get a message that says "To scan to computer, visit 123.hp.com/setup to download HP software (full software and drivers).  My computer is already connected to printer.  What addition steps do I need to take get it to work.

The Full Feature Software / full driver software must be installed before Scan to Computer can be enabled (activated).

After the software is installed, open the appropriate shortcut (Printer Assistant or Scan Assistant) and enable the "Scan to Computer" feature.

True, without having provided us the printer model and Operating System / version, the general instructions you received are correct and adequate to find and install the printer software (if such is available).

The official HP 123 site is where you can find the appropriate (and free) software and drivers for your printer.

There are many “fake” sites listed (in search engines) for “123” – please make sure you are using the actual “HP” site.

If you are asked for money to correct "issues" on your printer or computer OR if the “help” wants to sell you software, threatens you, or wants to log into your computer, you are using a “fake” site. Do not give these people your information!

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop.

 Note:  Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.
