I recently bought a new battery for my laptop. The original battery was damaged in less than 1.5 years even though I never used my laptop much. I was told that the 500 charge count of my battery was completed and usually batteries last this much only. I want to preserve my new battery and save its charging cycles.

Since I use my laptop at home only where Adapter and charging is always available, shall I disable my battery while the device is plugged in so that the laptop may draw power directly from AC not from the battery so that I can extend my battery life by using it minimum???

I'm not aware of any way to Disable the battery without removing it -- and if you do that, there is the possibility that the PC will shut down, even when on A/C.

I'm not aware of such a short battery life as I have a 10-year old laptop and it is only on its second battery, the first having lasted over 5 years.

Then is it okay to keep the adapter plugged in while working on my laptop even if the battery is 100 per cent charged? And does our system automatically draws power from AC at that point or is the battery still in use?

Thank You.
