Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I don’t know exactly where to start because I am trying to help a friend of a friend who just bought an HP computer windows 10. First off let me just say that I am a Mac person so I know very little about any PC computer. She knows that I know some thing about computers and asked me if I could help her with her new computer. I’m not sure if I need to give all the specifics here because I don’t know and I am assuming it’s a desktop like she had before and not a laptop. She has some property and needs a program on her computer that will do spreadsheets so that she can keep track of everything. I have no clue if any spreadsheet program is standard on an HP computer and if not what would you suggest for someone who is up there in age and something that is fairly easy to use? I think with her other computer she didn’t use spreadsheets but did everything by hand, but again I’m not positive. I know this probably isn’t very helpful but I am just a little lost because I’ve never used any spreadsheets in my life.

I think that Microsoft makes a program that includes spreadsheets. I’m thinking that like so many other things these days they probably make five different versions of a Microsoft program that has spreadsheets so I’m guessing all she would need is a basic program. I am praying that someone out there can help me even though I’m not being very specific here. If she does need a Microsoft program which one and can it be downloaded to her computer? Another problem for me because I know on a PC things don’t download as simply as they do on a Mac and that you have to go searching for it, but I think I would be able to find it.

I told her that I would get back to her next week so I’m hoping that someone can help me out here. It would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

HP PCs often come with Office 365 preloaded -- but it is just a trial version, expires in short order, and then you are faced with buying an annual subscription from MS to keep using it.

I got fed up "renting" their software, so I switched over to LibreOffice -- and found for the Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, it provided all the features I need.

So, I strongly recommend they take a look at LibreOffice -- it is free and (IMHO) works just as well as MS Office.
