Laptop HP - 15-bw099nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, for about a month my laptop can no longer read the USB sticks after an automatic update, it tells me that they are encrypted, when this is not the case. Inserting the key on another PC works without problems. I tried a resolution by reinstalling all drives, but there was nothing to do. With the help of a friend I discovered that a string has been deleted to remove the protection of the USB sticks. On his laptop, which is the same as my ce, but not mine. We can not even restore it, every attempt fails, the message of the problem (You do not have authorization to complete this operation).
The laptop is still with the original OS (WIN 10 x64 Home).
Do you know how I can solve this problem? I don't want to reset everything.

@Stacito Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the HP laptop no longer reads USB sticks.

Have you tried with different ports?

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Please uninstall the USB root Hub from the device manager and restart the computer and check.
