The keyboard backlight for my HP Envy laptop will not turn off.

Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

The backlight on the keyboard on my HP Envy notebook will not switch off.  I hit the F5/keyboard light button but the icons only seem to refresh.  I also went into the BIOS and tried to deactivate it from there but to no avail.  I have been getting a battery replacement message so I am unsure if the two issues are interconnected.

I hope someone can help me with this.  Thanks.
