Hi @Reenaise, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with a touchpad that keeps clicking on its own. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix temporary glitches.

Check for Physical Obstructions: Ensure there's no dirt or debris stuck under the touchpad. You can gently clean around the edges with a soft cloth.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click on your touchpad driver (usually Synaptics or ELAN) and select Uninstall.
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Adjust Touchpad Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
  • Adjust sensitivity settings and disable any unwanted gestures.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices and remove the battery (if possible).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power on your laptop.

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter the diagnostics menu.
  • Run the touchpad test to check for hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
