so..... i plugged in my (Samsung galaxy j3) into my computer ( HP Notebook - 15 - f272wm ) , i went to click view files or w/e just above the " do nothing " when the prompt popped up asking " what would you like to do with this device " from the top right.....well i uhh seemed to have clicked the " do nothing " button and now im in a situation where i can NOT find a way to find my device via usb after i clicked " do nothing " when i plug in my phone i really need these files and photos off of this phone. i have looked all over on how to rediscover this **bleep** phone via usb and file explorer w.t.f. do i do to make this device open in file explorer or even show the hell up? anger is a understatement at this point and the 3 days i have been looking for answers all i get is the so called support always asking the same robotic question " have you tried restarting you pc "  you think i haven't tried this? anyone out there have a work around or a driver uninstall reinstall link to make my phone pop back up the " what do you want to do with this device " screen again????? how do i make it ask me what i want to do with my phone when i plug it in again >=(

@unknown331

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating)

Next:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click on Hardware and Sound.
  3. Click on AutoPlay.
  4. Check the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices option to enable AutoPlay. (Or clear the option to disable the feature.)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
