Unable to perform any windows upgrade from windows 8

HP ENVY dv6
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hi

I recently had HP replace my hardrive under the warranty.  HP had installed windows 8 back on.  Since then I was not able to run the update to windows 8.1 or windows 10.  The error I'm receiving "0XC1900101-0x40017 The install failed in the second_Boot phase with an error during Boot operation.  I think the new replacement hardrive is the issue?

Please help how to resolve this issue.

Thank you

Xay

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about problems with your DV6 and wanted to help.

I seriously doubt that the drive is the issue, as that would generate a very different error code.

That error code indicates faulty drivers that are interfering with the Win10 Upgrade.

Here's a link to an MS thread that describes what to do when you get that error code.  However, I would NOT convert the drive to GPT unless is it already formatted that way:  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-troubleshoot-co...

Good Luck
