ProBook 655 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP ProBook 655 G3 with Windows 10  64 bit and I'm having an issue locating a device driver.

This is the driver when I look at the Hardware ID. ACPI\VEN_AMD&DEV_0010

Any idea what this driver is and were can i download it?

thanks,

Hi:

I have pulled the driver you need from the AMD chipset driver exe file, zipped it up and attached it below.

That chipset driver file can be found on the AMD website.

Download and unzip the file to its folder.  Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager, click on the unknown ACPI\VEN_AMD&DEV_0010 device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

Hello

Thanks for the file. Here is a screenshot of the error after installing the driver.

Any ideas of how to correct this?

You're very welcome.

I'm surprised that happened.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to uninstall that device, check the uninstall driver box, restart the PC and download and install the entire AMD chipset driver from the link below...4th file down.  Then restart the PC.

Hello

I did as you have outlined, but I get the same outcome.

What is the AMD I2C Controller driver used for? Should I uninstalled the video driver completely or is this associated with that driver.

When I had Windows 7 on this laptop, I didn't have this error.

I do appreciate your help

Thanks

Hi:

Unfortunately, I don't know what that device is.

Try reinstalling the graphics driver and see if that fixes it.

Any time I have given that driver to other forum members, it has always worked in the past, so I have no idea how to make it work.

Hello,

I uninstalled the video driver completely and reinstalled the driver, but I still receive the same outcome.

Just to make sure I'm installing the correct driver, I'm installing Windows 10 64 bit (which is my OS) --- AMD Chipset Driver.

Should I try a different chipset other than the 990FX?

Just curious

Thanks,

This is so perplexing...

I guess you can try the next chipset level up and see if that makes a difference...you never know...

Thanks again I will give that a try and post back.

It is weird for sure, the driver will go from unknown driver status in the device manager to AMD I2C Controller driver after the driver is installed, but still has the yellow explanation mark error.

If for some reason I can’t get this driver issue fixed

will it affect the system? What is the purpose of that driver?

thanks
