Windows 10 Finger print not working

Envy 17t-j100 QUAD edition CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Ever since i upgraded to Windows 10 OS the finger print scanner is not working. Eventhough i tried to access "Windows Hello" it shows that my device is not compatible. The notebook has an inbuilt Finger print scanner that was working perfectly while running on WIndows 8.1 OS.

Please help me resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance.

Windows 10 Finger print not working

@HarishRaja

The listed Biometric Driver for Windows 8.x should be adequate for Windows 10.

If you have not done so since the Upgrade / migration to Windows 10:

  • Uninstall the Driver from the Device Manager >
  • Shut down the computer and wait for several seconds >
  • Boot and log in

The driver should reinstall itself when you boot and log in.

If a simple driver "uninstall" does not work:

System:

HP ENVY 17t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC

If you have not done so:

  • Install your HP Drivers and software for Windows 10, excluding the fingerprint driver
  • Finish installing the Drivers / Software >
  • Shut down the computer, wait several seconds >
  • Boot and log in

sp63418 Validity Sensor V4.5.228.0 W8.1/64bit

  • Download a fresh copy of the Driver >
  • Uninstall AND Delete the driver from the Device Manager >
  • Shut down the computer and wait for several seconds >
  • Boot and log in >
  • Open File Explorer > Navigate to the Downloads Folder >
  • Double-Click on the downloaded exe file to install the Driver >
  • When the installation is complete >
  • Restart the computer and log in

Remember that Windows Hello requires a PIN number!

Windows key > Settings > Account > Sign-in Options > PIN number

Add or Remove Fingerprint logon - Windows 10
