HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G10 Notebook PC (974X6AV)

Windows is fully updated, no optionals available. Biometrics is not showing in Device Manager, even when "Show hidden items" is ticked.

I've downloaded and installed the follow drivers off the HP site:

sp151787.exe

sp144331.exe

Rebooted my laptop.

Windows Hello still says Fingerprint Reader is unavailable, and still not showing in Device Manager.

Please can you assist?

Thanks.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

No Biometrics devices section in the Device Manager = No fingerprint reader installed (detected) in the hardware

=================================================

Unfortunately, you cannot fix missing hardware by installing software.

When there is no fingerprint reader detected (installed in hardware),

(then)

The little "box" is simply a same-colored cover plate that marks where the sensor would be located.

Fingerprint reader (select products only) Allows a fingerprint logon to Windows, instead of a password
logon.
■ Swipe down across the fingerprint reader.
IMPORTANT: To prevent fingerprint logon issues, make sure
when you register your fingerprint that all sides of your finger
are registered by the fingerprint reader.

===============================================

The fingerprint reader is an optional feature --

The part can be purchased and the sensor can can be added.

Part Number and Installation Procedure is explained (and illustrated) on Pages 51 and 52.

Next,

Whether the computer includes the feature can be checked in PartSurfer.

Method – Use PartSurfer to check the parts / components in your computer

PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly which parts came with your computer.

  • For best results, use the Serial Number for your search
  • Reminder:  Do NOT post private information (including serial number) in the Community

 Open PartSurfer

  • Select your Country
  • Search for your computer / printer / device >> See HINT
  • Need Help?  Tab Self help > find and open the User Guide and FAQ

How to use PartSurfer:

  • Select your region / country - PartSurfer must know your general location
  • Enter your device Product Number , Serial Number, or Part Number in the Quick Search box
  • HINT: To see a system-specific list, replace the Product Number with your device Serial Number
  • Items accompanied by a tiny box in the Add-to-Cart column are available for purchase

Parts marked as "n/a" (or are missing from the list) are not available from HP.
