Pavilion 17-g078ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi There,

I have a HP Pavilion 17-g078ca laptop that the battery status is indicating 100% available (plugged in, Charging).

I have taken the battery out, plug ac in and restarting the laptop. uninstall the two files under the battery folder with device manager. did a shut down and then inserted the battery again and booted the laptop.

The battery is still is still stating the same after charging up again.

Do you think i need a new battery for the laptop?  What else can i do?

thanks

Keith

Welcome to HP Support Community

I suggest you update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC-series/7771368/model/858...

Also run a Battery Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery

Keep me posted how it goes

Hi there,

I downloaded bios and updated it.

When i hit the esc button several times,  hit F2, there is no option for Component and power > Battery in the menu.

the menu only had hardware, memory...can't remember the other one.

Is there something else that can be done.

thanks

Keith

I suggest you download the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p... and then try to Calibrate the Battery

  1. In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant.

  2. Select the My devices tab, then select your PC from the device list.

     HP Support Assistant home screen

  3. Click the Troubleshooting and fixes tab, then select Battery Check.

    Selecting Battery Check

  4. Wait while the battery check completes.

HP Battery Check displays the results.

    Battery test results

  5. Review the HP Support Assistant Battery Check results.
