Bought a new hp laptop with 12 month free subscription to word with it yet it does not work and isn't giving me any option to add it to my acount

We cannot offer a possible answer with the lack of details you have given us!

 

What model laptop?   Who said it came with "Word" for free?  Where did you purchase it?

 

Many HP laptops come with a "Trial Offer" for Microsoft Office.  This is free for 30 days.  After that, you must purchase the app from MicroSoft.   I would guess this is what you may have received....
