Hi @edge347,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power Settings Configuration:

  • Check your power settings. Windows 11 might be set to a high-performance mode when plugged in, which can increase temperature. Consider switching to balanced or power-saving mode to reduce heat.

Fan and Ventilation:

  • Ensure that the laptop's vents and fans are clear of dust. Use compressed air to clean them out if necessary. Good airflow can significantly improve cooling efficiency.

Cooling Pad:

  • Use an external cooling pad to help dissipate heat more effectively. This can be especially helpful during long gaming sessions.

Adjust In-Game Graphics Settings:

  • Even though you're playing on medium quality, reducing settings further can help decrease the workload on your CPU, thus reducing heat output.

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Make sure all your system drivers and BIOS are updated. Sometimes, updates can contain optimizations for better thermal management.

Undervolting:

  • If you are familiar with PC hardware and settings, consider undervolting the CPU. This can reduce power consumption and heat generation without significantly affecting performance.

Check Background Processes:

  • Ensure no other intensive applications are running in the background that might contribute to the CPU running hotter.

I hope this helps.
