Hi @dids_67

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the situation—and I’m truly sorry that your video was accidentally deleted. I appreciate your care in trying to recover it.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help you restore the file on your HP laptop running Windows.

Step-by-step recovery for a deleted video on Windows

1. Check the Recycle Bin

  • Double-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop
  • Look for your deleted video file
  • If found, right-click it and select Restore
  • The file will return to its original folder

2. Use File History (if enabled)

  • Navigate to the folder where the video was originally stored
  • Right-click inside the folder and select Properties > Previous Versions
  • If available, select a version from before the deletion
  • Click Open to preview or Restore to recover the file

3. Use Windows File Recovery (Microsoft tool)

If the file isn’t in the Recycle Bin or File History:

Download Windows File Recovery from the Microsoft Store

Open Windows Terminal (Admin)

Use the following command format:

  • winfr C: 😧 /n \Users\YourName\Videos\*.mp4

Replace C: with the drive where the file was deleted, 😧 with a recovery destination, and adjust the path and extension as needed

Follow the prompts to scan and recover deleted files

Let me know how the recovery goes or if you’d like help using one of the tools. You’ve done everything right by acting quickly—I’ll be here to guide you further.
