Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about your battery not charging and wanted to help.

This could be a problem with the batter and/or the charger.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

HP Notebook PCs - Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter | HP® Customer Support

HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 😎 | HP® Customer Support

If either is faulty, you will need to contact HP Customer Support to see about replacement or repair.

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

Good Luck

hp envy laptop battery not charging when plugged in

Thank you so much for your Help yesterday .. I am going through the Steps right now and when I get to the Step 5: Verify the notebook receives power from the adapter

Perform an AC Adapter UEFI test by using the following steps.
  1. Make sure the power cord and adapter is connected to the system and wall outlet.
  2. Turn on the computer.
  3. When the HP logo or boot menu is displayed, press F2 before the notebook boots to Windows.
  4. Once in the UEFI menu, select component tests.
  5. Select the AC Adapter test.

I am unable to push F2 and get this UEFI Menu .. what am I doing wrong .. Help and Thanks again for your Help

Sorry, but it looks like your PC is too old to have the UEFI stuff, so that limits the tests you can do.

I don't think my Computer was too old .. it is still under Warranty .. anyway .. after doing Google searches I was able to find out why the F2 Button wasn't working and was able to get the UEIF stuff and  BIOS Menu finally .. after I did an Update for the BIOS I was able to get the Menu and was able to check the Power Adaptor and go through all the Steps for that and the Battery check and everything checks out ok and seems to be working now .. so I am not sure what happened .. When I started the Testing the Battery was a 9% and now it is at 40% ..

Thanks anyway for your Help.
