Hi @Nilpro,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP 14s laptop is experiencing intermittent hanging and black screen issues. These problems could be caused by a variety of factors, including hardware or software issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to address the problem.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that all drivers for your laptop's hardware components are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues.
  • Check for Software Updates: Make sure your operating system and all installed software are updated to the latest versions. Software bugs or compatibility issues could be causing the problem.
  • Scan for Malware: Run a full system scan with reliable antivirus or antimalware software to check for any malicious programs that could be causing the issue.
  • Check System Resources: Use the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to monitor system resource usage. Look for any processes that are using an unusually high amount of CPU, memory, or disk resources.
  • Check for Overheating: Ensure that your laptop is not overheating, as excessive heat can cause performance issues and system instability. Clean any dust from the vents and consider using a laptop cooling pad.
  • Test in Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode (usually by pressing F8 during startup) and see if the problem persists. If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode, it's likely that a third-party software or driver is causing the problem.
  • Perform System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous point in time using System Restore. This can help revert any changes that may have caused the problem.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run built-in hardware diagnostics tools provided by HP to check for any hardware issues, such as memory or hard drive problems.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the hanging and black screen issues with your HP 14s laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
