HP Laptop - 14s-fq0013dx

Hi, I have an HP laptop that has an HDMI and USB-C ports.  Specs here:  https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06656953

I erroneously thought the USB would allow me to have dual video output, so that I can use dual external monitors.  I was enlightened here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Dual-Monitors-with-HDMI-and-USB-C/m-p...

So I bought a USB-C HP hub so that I could use dual external monitors.  However the laptop does not recognize the hub.  Hub here:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RGC9QSL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not sure if there is something wrong with the USB-C, or if the symbol that identifies it as a 3.0 (and the spec sheet) is incorrect.

At this point, I've spent almost as much on various cables, converters and hubs as the laptop originally cost.  Is there anyway to use a cable or hub to allow dual external monitors on this machine?  If so, please recommend exact part number or model numbers.

Thanks.

The dock/hub is not compatible with your machine. It says "For USB-C™ functionality, host PC must support the DisplayPort™ Alt mode protocol through its USB-C™ port. Thunderbolt™-enabled notebooks will function at USB-C™ speeds... " which your machine does NOT have.

Can you return it and buy a different one ?  If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors (and notebook monitor - total 3), please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few USB-A DisplayLink Certified options on market today including some HP products (you can select HP before Search)
