Pressing power button causes the button to light up, the screen to lighten up slightly, but remain dark. FN + 4 will control the keyboard lights. Pressing F1 will display
" F1...System Information in the lower left corner in small text, but no response to any key after that. F2, F9, F10, and F11
will display their respective commands, and then become unresponsive.
Please Help

Hi @makeitflossy,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy X360 laptop is showing a black screen but the PC is still on, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.
- Check the brightness: Sometimes the screen may appear black because the brightness level is turned all the way down. Try pressing the brightness button on your keyboard (usually F2 or F3) to increase the brightness.
- Check the power supply: Ensure that your laptop is properly connected to the power supply and that the battery is charged. If your battery is low, the laptop may automatically shut down the display to conserve power.
- Restart the computer: Try restarting the computer by holding down the power button for 10 seconds to force a shutdown, then turning it back on.
- Disconnect external devices: If you have any external devices such as USB drives or external monitors connected, disconnect them and see if that resolves the issue.
- Perform a hard reset: Shut down the computer, unplug the AC adapter and any peripherals, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds. Then plug the AC adapter back in and turn on the computer to see if the issue is resolved.
- Update graphics drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display issues. Visit the HP website and download the latest graphics drivers for your laptop model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
