Bought a pen was told it would work

I own a HP Zbook x2 G4 and bought a HP Active Pen G3 I was told it would work but the pen doesnt respond to the screen only the buttons bring up a notebook and that is it.

As mentioned on page 23 of the manual, it is compatible with

                 Stylus (active pen) part # L03260-001
