Like thousands of other owners, this laptop has broken at the hinges, and HP fails to support replacement or repair. This really does call for a class action lawsuit, at this point. I've gone through the normal routes to seek assistance through hp's support system to no avail.
I have two model 17-by1053dx HP laptops. I bought them both from best buy. After trying assistance from best buy, they referred me to hp, and after HP tried to refer me back to best buy, I bought a second of the same model due to the broken hinges on my first. Within 2 months, the same failure occurred at the hinges on the second laptop, the exact same model.
Now I have two broken, unusable HP laptops, and HP has no interest in helping. And I'm finding that there are thousands of us in similar situation, getting no support from hp.
