@Willy1325

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I understand you are unable to change the screen resolution,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you update the video card on your device?

(Click here to find and install if you haven't done it yet)

While you respond to that, here's a few things you could do:

Click here to see this video in full screen on YouTube.

Changing the size of text, display brightness, and screen resolution

You can modify the size of text and windows on the desktop to fit your personal preferences. You can also adjust the screen resolution, if necessary. During a normal Windows installation, the program tests the graphics card and displays the optimal size and resolution for that card.

To change the display settings, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows 10, search for and open Change display settings. You can also right-click the desktop and open Display settings.

  2. To change the orientation between Landscape and Portrait or to flip the orientation, select an option from the drop-down menu, then click Keep Changes or Revert.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

All right Riddle_Decipher, I've gone round and round with this computer and your instructions and I give up. Tomorrow it goes to Staples to have its attitude adjusted.

I clicked to install the video card. I put the serial number in where it said to put in the product name or serial number. For the operating system, my only option was to select Windows, which I did.  Then it wanted to me to select the version of Windows, but my version was not one of the options listed. I can't tell you how often this kind of thing happens when I try to use HP Support screens, by the way. I have a perfect record of coming to a dead end every time. My computer has Windows 10, Version 1709, with a 64 bit operating system; I had a choice of Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

I had already tried adjusting the screen resolution in the Display screen under Settings several times before I posted my problem, but following your instructions I tried it again, to no avail. Clearly all my issues were not resolved "by the end of this article", as the screen claimed they would be.

I watched the video you suggested, and ended up checking for updates. Turns out there were many updates I needed, which took so long I finally went to bed last night while the computer was still updating. Why did this happen, when the screen message says "we will automatically download and install updates....."? Apparently not.

Anyway, after turning the computer off and back on again, I hoped after all the updates that the display screen would work, but no. Then I thought maybe I'd be able to install that video card you talked about in the first place, but I ran into the same problem all over again.

End of story.

You may gather from this how frustrated I am.
