Can't connect laptop to extra screen

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to connect my laptop to an additional monitor. I have just bought a male to male, DP to HDMI cable, however nothing happens. Can anyone help? N.B. the monitor is working fine and another laptop is successful in connecting to it, albeit it uses a different lead as the ports are different.

@Emma60 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to connect the laptop with an extra screen.

I have checked the specification of the product.

There are 2 ports to connect the external monitor  HDMI and USB Ctype.

Please refer to the below link  to Connecting Monitors and TVs to Your PC (Windows 10, 8, 7)

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03319404

Please try to connect with different ports and check.

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.
