HP Envy-M4
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello HP Community. I see that this is a great community and you solve a lot of questions!

When I got my hp envy 4 b8t60LA·ABM i immediatly downgraded it from windows 8 to windows 7 (a friend found all the drivers). This was back in 2013.

Now, I had some os problems and had to reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate.

I was able to update many of the drivers thanks to the HP page but i can't seem to find the keyboard driver so i can make my brightness brighter. Volume, mute and wireless buttons work. Also the button so I can swifly choose to change to an external monitor doesn't work. An the monitor it detects it's the generic one. I must admit, there wasn't a driver for windows 7 for that, I downloaded a Windows 8 driver.

Thank you so much!

OK, so we know the graphics driver is missing, and that is the root cause of the problem.

See if the one directly from Intel works for you...the 2nd file down on the left is for 64 bit.

Hi:

From what you wrote, it appears you are missing the Intel HD graphics driver.

See if this W7 graphics driver works...

This package provides the driver that enables the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

If the other Fn Keys aren't working, this is the software you need for those...

This package contains the HP Quick Launch Software, which enables special function keys on supported notebook models to be programmed. For example, the HP Quick Launch Software enables users to press the Fn+ESC keys to view system information. This software works with the supported operating systems.

Thank you so much for the quick response!

I downloaded it and the install went ok but it still doesn't detects it as an Intel driver, just a generic one.

I went to the Intel page and it's assistant says that i have the correct driver and up to date. Nevertheless it says its status is "offline".

Maybe I'm missing some software?

Regarding the function keys, even in my energy options in control panel I can make my light dimmer so it makes me think I have something missing.

So, I don't want to be of much trouble but, do you have some older version of this driver or something?

Thanks!

You're very welcome.

OK, so in the device manager, under the Display Adapters device manager category, there is just a Standard VGA Adapter listed there and not an Intel HD graphics adapter?

If there is a Standard VGA adapter listed there, that means the Intel driver I gave you didn't work.

See if this one does...

This package provides the Intel video drivers, control panel and display audio driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

Thank you so much! That was a quick reply!

Unfortunately, while trying to install that driver, Windows says that it doesn't meet the minimum requirements : (

Hi:

In the device manager, under the display adapters device manager category, does it show the Intel graphics, or a Standard VGA Adapter?

Hi 🙂

Thank you so much for keeping track of my answer and it only shows the Standard VGA Graphics Monitor.

IT WORKED!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Really, thank you for your patience and dedication.

The device manager finally says Intel 4000, although in screen resolution says "Mobile PC Display" but man, that's no problem. I can adjust various resolutions and my keyboard controls work and I can send a vga output!

So my life is solved again thanks to you haha

I will just have to try it with video editing software and hdmi but i guess there won't be any more issues.
