Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP Pavilion dv4 i5-2430M computer and it is unable to play 1080p HD video smoothly. The video freezes and does not work. Task manager shows the application running at 100%.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- The exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l. The model no. mentioned by you does not give the specifications for multiple HP Pavillion computers.
- When was it able to play 1080p HD video properly? Any changes made after which the HD videos stopped playing?
- Have you tested using any other video player like Windows Media Player?
- Does this happen only with HD videos?
Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the review the steps mentioned in this link: http://hp.care/2kqCgHE
Hope this information helps. Feel free to reply. Cheers! 🙂

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The model no is
HP Pavilion dv4-3129tx Entertainment Notebook PC
Model #: QG510PA
Serial #: 4CZ1350SVX
It actually gave trouble from the start. But I didn't gave this issue much importance. thought it was a issue with the player.
With every player i've got this issue. Afer playing the videos for 20 or 30 minutes the CPU usage goes to a 100% and the video stucks.
It does happen only with 1080p videos.

Thank you for replying with the information. 🙂
I see that you have an HP Pavilion dv4-3129tx Entertainment Notebook PC and this laptop comes with an AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1 GB GDDR5 dedicated) video. This video card should support 1080p HD videos.
I suggest you to perform video card updates. Please click on this link as it will automatically detect and install the driver.
If the issue persists please perform a BIOS update too via this link. Please ensure that the AC adapter is connected to the laptop during the BIOS update.
Hope this helps. Let me know. Good luck! 🙂
