Example: HP ENVY LAPTOP 13-aq1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.

This is my first post.

I purchase a new HP ENVY laptop 13” about 2 weeks ago. My first HP laptop.

Basically, I want to mirror my 13” HP laptop to my 32” HDTV using the HDMI method or whatever you recommend.

I also have a 3 year old Dell XPS 13 laptop.

I can mirror my Dell XPS 13,  on my HDTV but cannot get the HP screen to display on my TV.

My XPS 13 does not have a HDMI port so I use an USB to HDMI adapter to connect.

I do the following:

1. Plug in the (USB to HDMI) adapter into the XPS 13 USB port.

3. Plug one end of a HDMI cable into the (USB to HDMI) adapter port.

2 Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI1 port on the HDTV.

4. Change the input source on the remote to HDMI1 and I get my laptop screen on my TV.

I have been trying to mirror my HP laptop onto my HDTV via HDMI.

My HP laptop does not have a HDMI port. So I again use my existing (USB to HDMI) adapter to connect,

I repeated steps 1 thru 4 above (XPS13 instructions) using the HP laptop.

When I change the input source to HDMI1 on the remote, I get “No Signal”.

I rebooted HP laptop with adapter connected – Still no signal.

I selected F4 and change Project from “PC screen only” to “Duplicate” – No signal.

So I can only conclude the following:

I am using the wrong adapter (USB-HDMI) to connect.

I am missing a step in my instructions.

There is a mini display port available on this HP laptop. Should I use this?

If I need a different Adapter to connect, can someone please provide a link of the product(s) I need to purchase that is compatible with HP and has proven to work.

Thanks.

TC.

From Op:

product: 6VC07AV

I did speak to a HP tech support yesterday.

After installing /uninstalling drivers and selecting "Duplicate" & "Extend" in the Project, he concluded I  am not getting  a signal from the USB-HDMI adapter to my HDTV.  He suggested I order a TYPE-C to HDMI adapter.

What is your suggestion?

Also what should I select as the Project, Duplicate, Extend ......

HP support selected different Project options, when he hit escape key, option always return to Project Option 1.

@tomx2x I would suggest the same, as your device does not have a thunderbolt port as per the service and maintenance guide: click here to verify (as shown in the below image)

You need an adapter for this to work,

I hope that helps!

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
