Hi @5CD242G1CS,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your Caps Lock key might be triggering a feature or application on your laptop rather than toggling the Caps Lock function as expected. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve unexpected behavior. It can reset any temporary glitches or software issues.
  • Check keyboard settings: Go to your laptop's keyboard settings and make sure that the Caps Lock key is set to its default function of toggling Caps Lock and not assigned to any other action or shortcut.
  • Update drivers: Make sure your laptop's keyboard drivers are up to date. You can usually do this through the Device Manager in Windows or a similar system settings menu in macOS.
  • Check for third-party software: Sometimes, third-party software or utilities can interfere with keyboard functionality. Check if you have any software installed that might be causing the issue, and consider temporarily disabling or uninstalling it to see if the problem resolves.
  • Reset keyboard shortcuts: If you've recently installed any software or made changes to your system settings, it's possible that a new keyboard shortcut has been assigned to the Caps Lock key. Check your system settings or any relevant software settings to see if this is the case, and reset the shortcut if necessary.
  • Perform a system restore: If the problem started recently and you're not sure what caused it, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system back to a previous state when the Caps Lock key was functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
