I want to by a monitor to use with Adobe Lightroom and the one I am looking at is a 24 inch monitor wth a resolution of 1920 x 1200, an Asus PA249Q. My HP Envy Touch Smart 15 Display is 1920 x1080.
Will the monitor work ok from the lap top? Can I change the resoltion on the lap top from the control panel on Windows 10? I tried to take a look at doing this but can't select a monitor - possibly because I haven't got one connected.

Many laptops now use standard 16:9 ratio for screen. Your monitor uses 16:10 ratio therefore you need driver for it. Driver for Windows 8 may work:
If not, please contact Asus to get a right driver for Windows 10.

I have managed to speak to Asus techncal support and hey say that the monitor would come with a Windows 10 driver but they say my lap top would still display in 16:9 not 16:10 format. So the monitor screen would have a black band down each side of the screen. Does this sound correct?
Thanks in advance,
