Unable to connect HP L1750 (old) to HP 15 notebook (sort of old). Have adapter...VGA to USB.  Everything is plugged in and connected. Monitor doesn’t not show up in “connect new device.” Pls advise.

@Stuxie

I've run into this same issue myself, as I am driving an external monitor through a USB port connected to an adapter, and that to a VGA cable to the monitor.

The problem is DRIVERS -- and if the adapter did not come with its own drivers, or if they are not available online from the adapter vendor, you are probably NOT going to get it to work.  I had to go through three such adapters until I got one that had its own drivers, and only that one worked.
