I'm trying to connect dual monitors through a docking station. Will my notebook support Displayport connections?

Hi @wesc223,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP 17.3-inch Laptop PC 17-c0000 IDS Base Model doesn't natively include a DisplayPort output. However, whether your notebook can support dual monitors through a docking station depends on the ports available on your laptop and the features of your docking station.
Key Considerations:
USB-C Port:
- If your laptop has a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, you can use it to connect to a docking station that outputs to multiple monitors.
- Check the user manual or HP's website to confirm if the USB-C port on your laptop supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.
HDMI or Other Video Outputs:
- If your laptop includes an HDMI port, it can be used to connect to a monitor. However, to support dual monitors, the docking station would need to handle the second monitor independently.
Docking Station Type:
- Ensure the docking station supports DisplayPort and can handle dual-monitor setups. Popular models often provide DisplayPort, HDMI, or a combination of both.
Steps to Check Compatibility:
Verify Laptop Ports:
Check if your laptop has USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode or HDMI.
Review Docking Station Features:
Confirm the docking station supports dual monitors and matches the output requirements (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort).
Graphics Specifications:
- Look up your laptop's technical specifications on the HP support website.
- Ensure your graphics card (integrated or dedicated) supports dual external displays.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Gaya1239
My apologies for the delayed follow up. I searched through two HP manuals on this laptop and failed to find specs on the C port. I do know that using another docking station in the past I was able to run 2 monitors; 1 HDMI and 1 DVI. Any insights you can provide for resolution would be appreciated.
