HP Envy 15t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 15t - P/N W0Q65AV and I want to set it up to work dual external monitor and was wanting to know if I can do that using 1 - HDMI (I know it works) and 1 - USB-C adapter.  It doesn't look like the USB-C supports thunderbolt (my USB-C thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor works on another laptop w/ thunderbolt but not this one), but not sure if another USB-C adapter may work and what I should look for.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. Select a connection type based on your second monitor.

    • Monitor: VGA  or DVI  cable

    • TV: Video (composite)  or S-video  cable

    • High Definition TV: DVI  or HDMI  cable

  2. Connect the TV or monitor to the computer using the cable you chose.

  3. Connect a power cable to the TV or monitor, and then turn it on.

  4. TV connections only: Change the TV video input source to match the video source connection from the computer (Line-1, Video-1, HDMI, etc.). Refer to documents that came with the TV for instructions.

Depending on the TV, the image quality might not be as good as that of a monitor.

  5. Turn on the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Echo_Lake,

Thanks for your response, but it didn't actually address my question.  You're response appears to be canned response on how to connect an external monitor.  If you'd re-read my question.  I'm asking if the USB-C of my particular module can be used to connect to an external monitor, as I want a dual EXTERNAL monitor setup, not the simple connecting and using an external monitor which is what you've described.

I already use my HDMI output for one external monitor, and I want to use my USB-C to drive a second external monitor, but before I purchase an adapter, I want to verify that it will indeed drive it.  I do not believe that my USB-C supports thunderbolt, at least a thunderbolt based USB-C to HDMI adapter doesn't work with it.

Thank you for posting back.

To get the answer to this question, the USB-C on this computer does not support Video output.
