I have one external monitor connected via HDMI -> HDMI port from the notebook.  I would like to connect a second external monitor using the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port but so far no luck.  I've connected the HDMI monitor to the notebook's USB-C port via a USB-C to HDMI passive cable then I tried a USB-C Hub cable such as THIS ONE but the second external monitor was not recognized in either case.  I have several questions:

1. Is this notebook capable of supporting two external monitors?
2. Is there a driver that needs to be installed so that the graphics system drives video out the USB-C port? (HDMI, VGA, or DisplayPort output from the graphics system)
3. Does this notebook require some other type of hub for two external monitors to be connected?  (monitors only have HDMI inputs)

The specs of your machine is

   https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06254897

It ONLY has

       1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port

And this port does not support USB-C to HDMI

3.  If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors, please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few options on market today including some HP products:

Thank you for your help and links.  To be clear and not to hold you to a particular solution but in general is it correct to say that most/many Docking Stations connect to the laptop via a USB-C then they provide whatever features are advertised for that Docking Station?

I tested many USB type A docking stations and docking stations with proper docking ports BUT for USB-C, people say standard BUT vendors implement different ways (depending on they feel fit) therefore it is much better to wait for things settle down.

>>> USB-C then they provide whatever features are advertised for that Docking Station?

I don't think so. The rule GIGO is there with those pins and cables.
