HP-255 G7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've just purchased a new HP-255 G7 to replace my old Toshiba laptop.

I purchased a HDMI - VGA adaptor to enable me to connect a large screen monitor to the laptop as I did with the Toshiba without any problems, however the Toshiba did have a built in VGA connector.

The problem I'm getting with the HP is that when I close the laptop lid the monitor screen goes blank so I'm having to use it with the lid half way up, which isn't ideal. I was able to have the lid fully closed on the Toshiba without the screen going blank.

I've gone over the Windows display settings again and again and also the lid settings in the power options, to no avail.

Can anyone explain how I can fix this problem please?

Thank you.

Looks like you selected option to put your machine go to sleep when you close the lid. Please use option Do nothing

Regards.

Thanks for the advice Banhien but I’ve been through those settings time & time again, it’s already set to Do Nothing.

Even when I set the display settings to Screen 2 Only the external screen goes blank. The only way I can get the external monitor to display is to set it to Extend These Displays. No other setting works.

By closing the lid it doesn’t put the laptop in sleep mode, just switches off the external display.

Any other thoughts?
