Hi
Tried the cable fix that discharges static electricity. Worked for a while, but the problem came back again.
Tried this fix and since then haven't had issue.
Go to device manager. Find i2c hid device under human interface devices. Double click. Power management tab and untick the " allow computer to turn off device"
apply
Now find i2c IO controller under system devices. Double click, go to power management tab and untick the " allow computer to turn off " for this device as well. Apply.
Now in google search for "microsoft catalog update driver"
Go to the first website, and on the top right side search box search for " i2c "
There should be a list of drivers with the name of elan - mouse. Click the first found item. In the window that opens click on the blue link. Once downloaded the file right click and extract it to a folder.
Now in device manager find elan driver filter under human interface devices and update its driver with the driver you just downloaded. Now right click on i2c and uninstall the driver. Now using keyboard try to do " Scan for hardware changes" in device manager. I2c and other devices will install automatically. That's it.

It sounds like you're sharing a detailed guide for fixing a left-side touchpad issue on an HP Omen laptop. This guide involves both power management settings adjustments and updating the I2C driver with a specific driver from the Microsoft Catalog. Here’s a concise version of the steps.
Step-by-Step Guide to Fix HP Omen Touchpad Left-Side Issue
Disable Power Management for I2C HID Device:
- Open Device Manager.
- Locate I2C HID Device under Human Interface Devices.
- Double-click it, go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
- Click Apply.
Disable Power Management for I2C IO Controller:
- In Device Manager, find I2C IO Controller under System Devices.
- Double-click it, go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
- Click Apply.
Update the Elan I2C Driver:
- Search for "Microsoft Catalog Update Driver" on Google.
- Go to the first website and search for "I2C" in the top-right search box.
- Look for Elan - Mouse in the search results, click on the first item.
- Download the driver from the blue link and extract it to a folder.
Update the Driver in Device Manager:
- Find Elan Driver Filter under Human Interface Devices in Device Manager.
- Update its driver using the one you just downloaded.
- Right-click on I2C and select Uninstall Driver.
Scan for Hardware Changes:
- Use the keyboard to select Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager.
- The I2C and related devices should reinstall automatically.
I hope this helps.
