I have been facing this issue for some time now i have done everything that i could without reseting my windows. I have done diagnostic test from bios to apps, Reinstalled all the drivers 2 times and even deleted any big files i dint need just incase it was a ssd issue even tho the ssd has never failed on me. The flickering starts whenever i start doing heavy load stuff like playing games like GTA5 or any big games or even unreal engine itself while doing work.video proof

Hello Kuroi_Kenshi thank you for helping me i did some more digging i think the problem is with cooling , main suspects are thermal paste and overall cooling. While gaming or doing anything heavy the cpu sky rockets to 90°C and keeps rising every minute till it goes to 98 and then i believe the O.S. tries to cool it down by going in sleep mode but then glitches back out OR the second suspect is the hall sensor is just gotten fried or some. I would like to ask one more question how many years does a HP Victus last i have a i7 13700H and RTX 4050.

Appricieate the response,
Aryan.

Hi @yoaryan123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP system is showing screen flickering and instability, especially under heavy load or when waking from sleep mode, even after you’ve already tried diagnostics and driver reinstalls. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Update Graphics Drivers and BIOS

Make sure both the GPU driver (Intel/NVIDIA/AMD) and BIOS are the latest versions from HP’s support site.

Outdated GPU drivers are the most common cause of flickering under load.

Adjust Power and Sleep Settings

Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set the plan to High Performance.

In advanced settings, disable “Turn off display after” or set longer times to reduce wake‑up flicker.

Disable Fast Startup

In Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do, turn off Fast Startup.

This prevents corrupted states when resuming from sleep.

Check Display Refresh Rate

Right‑click the desktop > Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings.

Ensure the refresh rate matches your monitor’s native specification (e.g., 60Hz, 144Hz).

Incorrect refresh rates can cause flickering during gaming.

Test with External Monitor

Connect an external display and check if flickering occurs there.

If only the laptop screen flickers, the issue may be with the panel or cable.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (F2 at startup)

Perform a full system test, especially GPU and memory tests.

This helps confirm if hardware is failing under load.

Adjust Graphics Settings in Games/Apps

Lower graphics settings or disable V‑Sync in GTA5/Unreal Engine.

Heavy GPU load combined with sleep/wake cycles can trigger instability.

Check Event Viewer Logs

Press Win+X > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System.

I hope this helps.

Hi @yoaryan123,

Thank you for the update!

I appreciate the detailed information you shared. Based on your findings, the high temperatures (reaching 98°C under load) strongly suggest the system is throttling to protect itself, which can trigger flickering and even sleep mode during heavy tasks.

Let’s focus on cooling and thermal performance:

1. Clean Dust Build-up

Dust inside the vents or fans can block airflow and raise temperatures.

Use compressed air to clean vents gently.

Avoid inserting sharp objects into the vents.

2. Check Laptop Positioning

Using the laptop on beds, pillows, or uneven surfaces restricts cooling.

Always use a flat, hard surface.

Elevating the rear slightly improves airflow.

3. Use a Cooling Pad

A good cooling pad can reduce temperatures by 5–10°C during gaming.

Look for pads with adjustable fan speeds and strong airflow.

4. Adjust Performance Settings

Heavy power modes can push unnecessary heat during normal use.

Go to HP Omen Gaming Hub / Victus Hub > Set Performance Control to Balanced for non-gaming tasks.

For gaming, keep Performance Mode but reduce in-game settings like shadows or resolution scaling to reduce heat.

5. Fan Control

In Omen/Victus Hub, enable Max Fan Mode while gaming to provide maximum cooling.

I hope this helps.
