I recently reset my PC after a virus infection, and as soon as I started working, I noticed that the fn brightness keys were not working. I was able to use all other fn keys, except for those related to brightness. I was able to change the brightness from the Windows Mobility Center, or from the Battery tab in the Taskbar.
I read a few other forums telling me to update my drivers. I checked, and all my drivers were up to date. I uninstalled and re-installed my graphics drivers (Intel HD 4400) and notciced no change. I also tried to enable the Generic PnP Monitor, but found that it was already enabled.
On other thread, I read that I should intall HP System Event Utility, and restart. I did so, and found that the fn keys were responding, but not ideally. There was a delay after pressing the keys. I had to wait about 5 seconds before the the brightness went up or down a level, and any other presses (on the fn keys) during that time (the 5 seconds) were not taken into account.
I would really love to be able to use my laptops the same way I could before the reset.
Thank You
Regards
