HDMI not connecting to the computer. We've been using USB c port to hdmi and that has been working for some time but just stopped working suddenly. And when we purchased a USB to hdmi port l, it didn't work either. Is there something that turned off or a setting that was turned off also

Hi @Zuriel1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When troubleshooting HDMI connectivity issues with your HP laptop, there are several steps you can take to try to resolve the problem.
- Check the HDMI cable: Ensure that the HDMI cable you are using is not damaged or faulty. Try using a different HDMI cable to see if the issue persists.
- Restart your laptop and external display: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both your laptop and the external display, then turn them back on.
- Check the HDMI port: Inspect the HDMI port on your laptop for any physical damage or debris that may be obstructing the connection. Use compressed air to clean out the port if necessary.
- Update graphics drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause HDMI connectivity issues. Visit the HP website and download the latest graphics drivers for your laptop model. Install the drivers and restart your laptop.
- Check display settings: Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings" (or "Graphics properties"). Make sure that the external display is recognized and configured correctly.
- Check power sources: Ensure that both your laptop and the external display are properly powered on and connected to power sources.
- Try a different HDMI port: If your laptop has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting the HDMI cable to a different port to see if the issue is with a specific port.
- Reset display settings: If you've made changes to display settings previously, try resetting them to their default values.
- Check for BIOS updates: Sometimes, BIOS updates can address compatibility issues. Check the HP website for any available BIOS updates for your laptop model and follow the instructions to install them.
- Try a different external display: If possible, try connecting your laptop to a different external display to determine if the issue is with the display itself.
- Perform a system restore: If the issue started occurring recently, you can try performing a system restore to revert your laptop to a previous state when HDMI connectivity was working.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
