HP 15 Notebook Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I'm trying to use the HDMI port on my HP notebook (L2Z88PA#ACJ) as a source for my my SONY led tv (KVL32R320E).

the laptop and tv don't detect each other at all even after trying various power cycle sequences . Simply speaking there's no HDMI handshake happening.

1. ALL drivers are up to date.

2. HDMI Cable works

3.Laptop displays HDMI to projectors so port is okay

4.TV accepts HDMI from setup box.

NO detection from either end please help it's very frustrating.

@TedMosby, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Please try these steps -

1.) Connect the HDMI cable to your computer and to your output device.

2.) In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.

3.) Click Sound, and then click the Playback tab.

4.) The Sound window opens. On the Playback tab, select Speaker/Headphone or Speakers and Headphones, and then click Set Default.

Setting Speaker/Headphone as the default audio device

5.) Select the output device connected with the HDMI cable, and then click Set Default.

Setting output device connected with the HDMI cable as the default device

6.) Right-click the output device connected with the HDMI cable, and then select Show Disconnected Devices. The HDMI cable must be connected when it is configured.

Selecting Show Disconnected Devices

7.) To view all the available sound devices, right-click any device shown in the Sound window and select the Show Disabled Device and Show Disconnected Devices options.

Hey @TEJ1602

This is what happened  though the HDMI cable was plugged in.

I also ran HP support but it said everything was up to date.

Also performed the Hard Reset but nothing happened.

The Laptop does project to the projector at my office but does nothing when connected to the TV.

@TedMosby

Thanks for replying!

Looks like the TV is incompatible considering the same cable works with the projector.

I'd suggest you contact the TV manufacturer for help.

Keep me posted.
