Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since a windows update the HDMI port doesn't work (There is always something that stops bloody working every time!). I have tried a different HDMI, turning it off and on again, resetting the BIOS, it says it is up to date for windows, I have disabled the HD graphics to be able to use the NVIDIA this just made my display look very odd! I have updated the drivers to both graphics. I have checked the display settings and tried the extended projection. I have also tried running scans in command and then restarting. Never had a problem before now with the laptop projecting, the HDMI lead or the television. I can connect my Pavillion to the television using the same cable but I need to display an app that this laptop isn't updated to do.

Please help, I have spent 6 hours in total trying to find a solution to this problem and none seem to work. More than a little bit sick of this happening every update. So far owning this computer I have noticed I lost my microphone (very handy during covid), thumbprint recognition, wireless and now this! God knows what else I have lost/doesn't now work that I don't know about (sigh)

Hi@corrinevn, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community.  I reviewed the post regarding HDMI issues with the computer. Fabulous description and excellent troubleshooting were done by you. Great job! Kudos to you on that score.

For me to assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did you connect this computer to another external TV or screen it and check if it works?
  • Did you try multiple HDMI cables?
  • Please provide the complete model# of the computer to assist you better.

For now please try these steps:

  • Right-Click on the start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2syreDe  After following the on-screen instructions and selecting the correct Operating system.
  • If it still does not fix the issue, please perform the relevant steps for HDMI related issues from this link: http://hp.care/2rKIvXg regarding video issues. If there is no hardware issue with the computer, this should do the trick for you.
