HID Touch Screen does not work

5CD3294FYL Split 2x
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tired to install a driver for a stylus to work on my touchscreen.  After I installed the driver the touchscreen does not work, either with the stylus or fingers.  Did a re-install for Winsows 10 and no luck.  Re-installed all HP drivers and no luck.

Device manager does not show the HID touchscreen.  All Windows updates are installed.

Model 13 M010 DX

Product # E0W59UA#ABA

System description shows no pen or touch input is available for this display.

HID Touch Screen does not work

Hi @emdiazsr,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I see from the post that you are having issues with the touchscreen stopped working. Don't worry I'll try my best to help you with this.

First, let's start with performing a hard reset to release any excessive static/power that could have caused the issue:

To perform a hard reset on a computer with a removable battery, use the following steps:

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.

3. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

4. Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

5. Remove the battery from the battery compartment.

6. Press and hold down the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.

7. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.

8. Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

9. If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.

10. After reconnecting each of the peripheral devices, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

Second, enable the touch screen driver in Device Manager:

1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

2. Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.

3. The touch screen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touch screen device.

4. If the option to enable the device is included in the menu, click Enable.

If the Enable option does not appear in the menu, continue to the next step:

1. Reinstall the touch screen driver in Device Manager

2. Install Windows updates

3. Update the BIOS and graphics driver

4. Configure the touch display

5. Perform a touch screen diagnostic test in HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

6. Adjust the power management settings for your touch screen

7. Reset your computer

8. Perform a Microsoft System Restore

9. Perform an HP System Recovery

Click here to know: How to perform each step.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!

Good Luck.

HID Touch Screen does not work

Hello Jeet, thank you for being here to help us that are not experts.  I have a Split 2X, E0W59UA#ABA, which after I tried to install a stylus the touch screen stopped working.  After several attempts to re-install Windows 10 and other related Internet solutions I was not successful at re-activating my touch screen.  I got a new HP Recovery Media USB Software and Drivers and did a complete clean re-install.  I still do not have the touch screen working.  Someone told me I needed a HID touch screen compliant driver, as it is missing from my Device Manager.  I have exhausted my resources looking for the driver.  There is no touch screen information on my Device Manager; however, there are two instances of HID Compliant Consumer control device.

Let me know if I can offer additional information which may help you help me!

HID Touch Screen does not work

Hi @emdiazsr,

Thank you for replying,

I understand you have tried to follow the steps suggested and still having the issue. Don't worry as I have a few other steps which should help you resolve this issue.

Attempt to run a test using the HP hardware diagnostic tool

If the Touch screen isn't appearing on the diagnostics,

I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

If it works on bios, it's a software issue: please reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue

If it doesn't work on BIOS either, it's a hardware failure and you may need to Contact HP to set up a hardware repair service.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accepted Solution.

HID Touch Screen does not work

Hi Jeet_Singh, thank you for your advise.  I tried using the test on the BIOS with the factory version of the HP Hardware Diagnostics and it showed the button for the Touchscreen test; however, when I upgraded the HD test to the 6.6.0 it did not show it.  Now for some reason there are several instances of a "ELO Touchscreen" in the Windows Registry.  Is there a posibility that the program could rename the HP hardware?

Here is a copy of the registry.
