HP - 15 bw065ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello. In my laptop is a video card Radeon 530 (ddr3 - 2GB) In the task manager, as in many other applications, not 2GB, but 384 Mb are displayed. Screenshots are attached below. The manufacturer (HP) said that this problem should be solved with the manufacturer of the video card. I use the original software settings (17.7) Drivers of version 18.2.1 did not solve the problem. The latest drivers are the same. In games there is an installation "High performance" I use this laptop: HP 15 bw065ur Radeon Software Version - 17.7 Radeon Software Editorial - Crimson ReLive Chipset Graphics - AMD Radeon R5 Graphics The amount of memory is 384 MB Memory Type - DDR4 The core frequency is 758 MHz Windows version - Windows 10 (64 bit) System memory - 6 GB CPU Type - AMD A10-9620P RADEON R5, 10 COMPUTE CORES 4C + 6G Video card manufacturer - Powered by AMD Chipset graphics - AMD Radeon (TM) 535DX Device ID is 6900 Vendor ID - 1002 Subsystem ID is 8333 Subsystem manufacturer ID - 103C Editor id - 83 Type of bus - PCI Express 3.0 Current bus parameters - PCI Express 3.0 x4 BIOS version - 015.049.000.017 BIOS component number - SWBRT25108.001 Release Date BIOS - 2017/08/24 06:26 The amount of memory is 2048 MB Memory type - DDR3 Memory frequency - 1000 MHz The core frequency is 1021 MHz The total memory bandwidth is 16 GByte / s The data transfer speed of RAM is 2.00 Gbps

Hey there! @Hurply,  Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you are getting dedicated video memory available 384MB on your PC.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

As you mentioned you are getting dedicated video memory available 384MB on your PC.

Your Dedicated GPU usually can't use standard RAM, if you use all the memory on your GPU, it will be a lot slower, especially because Graphics Memory is alot faster than conventional RAM.

Follow these steps to view video memory information:

  1. Right-click an open area of the desktop, then click Screen resolution.

    The Screen Resolution window opens.

  2. Click Advanced settings.

    Figure : Screen Resolution

Screen Resolution window, showing location of Advanced settings
  3. Click the Adapter tab.

The video memory information is displayed under Adapter Information:

    • Total Available Graphics Memory: A combination of all memory available for graphics. The system may not actually be using all of this memory, but it is available when requested.

    • Dedicated Video Memory: Memory set aside for the exclusive use of the graphics adapter.

For Integrated Graphics Cards, this memory is set aside by the BIOS and is subtracted from system memory before Windows 7 is loaded. Windows 7 does not report this as part of total system memory.

For Discrete Graphics Cards, this is the memory that is on the graphics card. It is not subtracted from system memory.

    • System Video Memory: A fixed memory allocation that is subtracted from system memory after Windows 7 loads. Windows 7 reports this as part of total system memory. It is available to software programs.

    • Shared System Memory: An additional pool of memory that may be dynamically allocated and released as needed. This memory is available to programs and may be used for graphics if required.

You can't increase the video memory per-se, but you can allocate more virtual memory for your computer to use.

To do this, click start, right click computer>Properties>advanced system settings>advanced>performance>advanced>(virtual memory)>change>

click custom size and enter the size of hard drive space you would like to allocate to virtual memory. I would recommend and initial size of 10000mb and a maximum size of 20000mb. Click apply and reboot your system.

However, you can also try updating the BIOS and graphics drivers on your PC and check if it helps.

Update the graphics drivers using this link.

Also, update the BIOS using this link.

If you still have an issue after trying out the steps. Try uninstalling the graphics drivers from device manager and install the drivers using HP recovery manager.

Refer this article to know how to restore drivers using HP recovery manager.

I have the same problem, and I bought HP 15-bw065ur in November 2018. (the same video graphic with your laps)

I found out that problem is the driver of AMD and HP is not suitable with the windows so AMD 530 is divided into 2 cards, one is integrated card AMD R5 with 384MB on video memory and discrete AMD R7 (name with the latest ver of AMD Adrelenin) the VERY BAD thing here that AMD R7, as well as AMD 535DX, also has 384MB as video memory instead of 2GB as the AMD and HP did in marketing!!! SO I think that's they didn't do the driver well and they f*ck all the customers!!!

Dear,

P/s: a lot of people get the same problems and they swear that never use HP laptop with AMD card anymore, We received the support from AMD and HP, but nothing solved and they blame to the others. HP told that AMD driver is not right, AMD said "you guy must ask to manufacture company HP" LOL!!!!

Guys with the same problems HP - 15 bw065ur - HP Support Community - 6737686

Too many threads, so I cant list them all. Good luck to u and to me also

I have same question HP and AMD ignoring their Software bug. I have seen a lot of people suffering same and the most common thing I noticed is everyone with A10 or A9 processors and with Radeon 530 2GB DDR3 variant. I guess I got solution for this bug in my laptop in "task manager" it's showing dedicated memory 480mb and shared memory 2GB so here what I did is tried every single Driver's old to new and interestingly not a single one worked |sedlyf| but I don't know why it worked in windows 7 perfectly (I guess problems are way bigger than expected it's problem with "AMD", "HP" & "WINDOWS" so basically it's impossible to ask help from everyone they will never gonna investigate deeply. I found this recently but not sure about that {problem is the APU's iGPU got crossfire with dedicated GPU and since iGPU using DDR4 system memory which is faster then DRR3 dedicated GPU's memory so power is delivered by "Radeon 530/r7 m340/somethingelse" but memory used by card is system memory not dedicated one and it's only happens in windows 10 and since HP is only one who make A series with 530 GPU so mostly HP consumer suffer) so I tried everything I got some solution performance increment is unbelievable fast but still not using it's 100% so in my opinion download AMD clean up utility to uninstall Adrenaline drivers and download old crimson drivers in that you will find dual GPU support enable that (basically it's crossfire but it's necessary to trick our drivers) and give every game Auto performance (beware don't give high performance) or low depends on game so IMO it trick drivers to use both i and dedicated GPU used up same time but low or Auto performance will help to used 2GB shared(actually dedicated memory but system will see shared) now run games or graphic demanding application and see task manager.

Thanks loved to help and plz forward to everyone facing this problem.
