Spectre x360 15-eb0053dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I can't figure out what's wrong with HP Display Control on my Spectre OLED.  It looks generally fine in "Native" mode, but everything else looks truly aweful, with strange colors and whatnot.  I'm wondering if I'm somehow missing the correct profiles for it or if the software just doesn't work on this computer. The colors look like they're banding and it's just terrible.  It definitely isn't representative of the color tuning suggested by the app.

You can see the issues in the photos attached. They're just phone pictures of the screen while in Adobe Lightroom. Native looks right, and roughly like it does on our iPhone, Google Pixel, iPad, Mac, HP Pavilion Gaming, and HP Pavilion X360. In other words, Native looks "normal". The other modes have yellow and green banding and generally look horrid.

Any insight appreciated!

Thanks!

Dan.

I understand that you are facing issues with the HP display control application.

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Please uninstall the HP display control and reinstall the application and check.

Unfortunately, the suggestions don't help.

So far, I have:

1. Updated everything

2. Tried updating graphics drivers to Intel's and Nvidia's directly

3. Put back the original graphics drivers.

4. Uninstalled and reinstalled HP Display Control in every state.

5. Reset Windows.

6. Used Cloud Recovery to start over from scratch with the system.

7. Ordered Recovery Media in case it is somehow different (waiting for that now).

Also, HDR and HDR streaming are turned off, as they should be, but I've tried turning them on and off again to see.

I'm pretty sure it's the software, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work correctly. I'd love to know if it works for anyone else on this laptop. If it does work correctly on other Spectre 15-eb0053 systems, then my computer must have a unique problem with the display or something.  There's very little left to do.

Thank you, but this solution doesn't fix the problem.

Thanks,

Dan.

I understand your concerns.

We do not have the option to take the remote control and check.

I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. Thye will help you.

Or you can contact local service center.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

Have a nice day!!
