HP ENVY x360 Convertible 13-ag0xxx
Text fonts on some web pages display incorrectly - overly condensed or expanded if formatted (italics, bold). Foreign language characters different appearance to the surrounding text. Text appears differently on different web-browsers, but still badly distorted.
Graphics card and all drivers seem to be up to date.

It wasn't actually changing the screen resolution that fixed my problem; it was changing the text display to the recommended level of 150%. Since my laptop is hardly larger than an iPad, I would have preferred the text to appear a touch smaller, but hey! at least I can read the websites.
I hope that it was making this change that fixed the appearance of text on some websites, as I did all sorts of settings and fonts gymnastics before I received this advice. Very grateful for whatever it was! 🙂
