HP EliteBook 830 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am using an HP EliteBook 830 G5 that was supplied to me by my employer to work from home. I would like to set up two external monitors to replicate the setup I had at the office. I want to ensure I am fully understanding the necessary equipment & options I have to EXTEND my display across all three screens. (The two monitors I have are Dell "E1914H”s and utilize VGA ports).

Option 1-

  • Connect a Thunderbolt display splitter (such as the HP USB-C Dock G5) to the Thunderbolt port -> connect two DisplayPort to VGA cables to the splitter -> run the cables to the monitors

Option 2-

  • Connect a Thunderbolt to VGA cable to the Thunderbolt port -> run the cable to monitor #1
  • Connect an HDMI to VGA cable to the HDMI port -> run the cable to monitor #2

Any feedback or insight into additional options I did not list would be very much appreciated!

@Hart72

Why NOT use same setup at work ? I used to work from home and 2 or 3 different offices and my employer supplied EXACTLY same setup for all desks. Only thing I had to carry around is the the notebook.

Using a splitter you won't get EXTEND displays, only DUPLICATE.

Regards.
